Church Survey Team

The Church Survey Team (Japanese: 教会調査団, Hepburn: Kyōkai chōsa-dan) was a voluntary organisation set up to take control of self-governing territories for the Church.

History

The Church Survey Brigade was set up in 890 AD.^[1]^[1.1] By 892 AD, the Church Survey Team went had conquered each self-governing territory around the Cathedral City.^[1.1] They began to function as the Church's armed forces. Twelve years later, in 904 AD, the Church had taken over the entire Iberian Peninsula. It also became common practice for members of the Church Survey Team to stay in conquered areas after a successful expedition, where they established self-governing regions and become known as landed lords.^[1.1]
