The White Revolt (Japanese: 白の乱, Hepburn: Shiro no ran) was the first revolt against the Church and the Magic Academies by wizards. It occurred in 971 AD.

History

Starting in 960 AD, the Church began electing landed lords as directors of the Magic Academies. This made the wizards restless, as some of the lords had no magical knowledge.[1][1.1]

Eleven years later, some young wizards had become fiercely opposed to the continued election of landed lords as directors of the Magic Academies. They surrounded the Central Magic Academy in the Cathedral City and demanded that the current directors resign, but they were suppressed overnight.[1.1]
