The black flower.

The 6/6 Contact Occurence (Japanese: 触発生 6/6, Hepburn: Sawa hassei 6/6) was an event that happened on June 6, 998 AD. It involved the opening of Mercury's Door in the Cathedral City by the Intoners, who subsequently came in contact with the black sludge that was trapped behind the door. The black sludge was actually a flower. It made the Intoners summon daemons, unleashing chaos upon the world. It was eventually stopped by the Intoner Zero and her dragon companion Michael.

History

It began when the landed lords Lady Cerulea, Lord Gray, and Lord Shahor arrived to the Cathedral City in order to try and open Mercury's Door. Cerulea gave Baltas, a man she found by the door some time ago, Old World writing to speak into a nearby terminal, but his voice data was deemed incorrect. He was therefore teleported away.[1][1.1]

Later, the Intoner sisters arrived in the Cathedral City, also with the goal of opening the door. When Intoner One touched the door, she had an ominous vision of what was behind it.[1.2] Before she could fully process what she had seen, the sisters were ambushed by the landed lords.[1.2] The lords made quick work of the Intoners, killing Three, Five, and Four while fatally injuring Two. Cornered and desperate, One began to sing. Her song shattered the door and unleashed the black sludge within.[1.3]

The sludge gathered the dead Intoners. It mended them and used them to summon daemons while sealing Intoner One in a sphere.[1.4] Gray was subsequently killed by the daemon Armisael.[1.4] Cerulea soon turned on Gray's son Shahor, killing him to become more powerful. This was short-lived, as she too met her end moments later. Her end came at the hands of Partition, her former student and servant to the Intoners.[1.5] One was eventually freed from the influence of the black sludge by her dragon friend Gabriella.[1.5] The sludge began gathering all the daemons it summoned into itself and launched an attack against One, who was able to block it with her magic.[1.5] As the sludge forced the dead Intoners to sing, they all grew up at an accelerated rate, becoming adults.[1.5] Afterwards, the sludge formed into the shape of a black flower.[1.5]

The black flower is destroyed.

Zero, the eldest Intoner, arrived just in time. She used her powers to create the disciples, who weakened the flower's power. Her dragon companion Michael then blasted the black flower with dragonfire, destroying it once and for all.[1.6]

Legacy

The events that transpired resulted in the deaths of all the remaining landed lords.[1.5] It also further empowered the Intoners, making them grown faster than if they had done so naturally.[1.5] However, it also resulted in the existence of the disciples who served to dampen the Intoners' growing powers.[1.6]

Behind the scenes

Etymology

The name of the event likely refers to the Intoners, creations of the flower, coming in contact with the flower trapped behind Mercury's Door.
